We were all up early and eager to move into Koh Phangan.
Breakfast was found, the usual omelettes, pancakes and fruit with teas and orange juice. A short Tuk-Tuk ride to the pier and we were once again on the move, only this time with friends! The boat arrived full to the brim with people leaving koh phangan after the full moon party.
The sea was rough, the sky's were dark and the boat was full. We all sat on the top deck in the open air. The boat would climb over the big swells and land with a crash creating a wall of water that pummelled the unfortunate passengers on the top deck: us!
90 minuets later we arrived at the dock to hundreds more people queuing to leave. We grabbed a drink in a cafe while we searched the internet for some accommodation reviews.
Taxi found and we headed north to our chosen guesthouse. We checked into our wooden bungalow perched in the tree tops. We had a double bunk bed, outdoor bathroom and a huge deck with sea view between the four of us.
The bar/restaurant/lobby area sat on our own private beach. Lunch was had as the sun came in and out. When it was out we would jump in the sea, swim to the pontoon, and play beach ball, and when it was in we would hang in the hammocks.
We rented scooters and went to check our the nearest town Thongsalat. We had been recommended Thai BBQ by our guesthouse owner, and with a little cruising around we quickly found one. All you can eat raw produce lined the restaurant and coal BBQ's sat in the middle of each table. We started with chicken, then prawns squid and fish, then beef and pork. All the while we had mountains of rice, noodles, veggies, onion rings, chips, you name it and it was available!
Once the food had settled there were cakes, ice cream and fruit for dessert.
Full and tired we retreated to the guesthouse for an early night. We wanted to be up early to explore some of the island tomorrow.
