Today was another one of those long travel days.
We left the resort at 8am, managed to grab some food from a road side vendor for breakfast while on the first bus trip. 1 stick of chicken sausage, 2 sticks of quail egg samosas (3 on each stick!), and two bags of crisps.
We had to get on two car ferries to get off Ko Lanta and back on to the mainland.
By 11am we were in Trang, our first stop and vehicle change.
We jumped out of our mini van and into another. We managed to grab a fish curry and rice to go for elevens's. Sound bad? It was!
Another 3 hours of being thrown around in the back of a mini van and we arrived in Hat Yai, our second stop and second vehicle change.
This was to be the last place we would visit in Thailand as our next stop was across the boarder in Malaysia. We were both hungry and we wanted our last Thai meal to be a memorable one. We sat in the grotty travel agents where we had booked our next journey and devoured a Zinger tower box meal from the kernel at KFC. Not so Thai, but it was memorable!
3pm and we got on our 3rd minivan for the day. This one took us to the boarder where we stamped out of Thailand and into Malaysia! We are glad to leave the south of Thailand and start a fresh in Malaysia. South Thailand was beautiful, adventurous, and unbeatable, but only in some select places.
Who knows what Malaysia will have to offer, we're looking forward to finding out.
In standard Thai transportation style we arrive in Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia, late! 2 hours late!
Malaysian time is GMT + 8 so We have moved an hour further from home and an hour closer to Australia!
We soon found some place to stay in china town.
