Travel musings from Sonia
Another sunny day on the West Coast of Scotland (2 in a row now!) and I think its a while since its been like this judging by comments of people in the supermarket and bookshop-NZ'ers aren't the only ones obsessed by the weather!
Since it was such a nice day, after getting a few supplies from the supermarket, I walked up to McCaigs Tower which is a half built monument (a wall with lots of open arches which have spectacular views over Oban Bay towards Mull) and sat on a park bench and had my lunch and read a book-very relaxing and a lovely way to pass the afternoon. The only annoyance was the passing of a military jet (they do a lot of training in the highlands-I guess because its less populated!) which rudely interrupted my peaceful afternoon!!
Oban is a pretty port town-not very big but fairly busy with the ferries to Mull and Iona and traffic heading up to Fort William and other parts of the highlands.
Tomorrow I head to Glasgow where I'll spend the night before travelling to Tarbert to start my 2 week stint on an organic orchard/garden called Daisy Cottage. I'm looking forward to it.
Love, Sonia
