Travel musings from Sonia
The walking festival is going well. I've been on two walks so far-the one on Monday that I wrote about in my last postcard and one yesterday which started at a place called Glen Artley (near the village of Comrie) and we walked over to Loch Earn. It was pouring with rain when we met at James Square in Crieff but it soon stopped and by the time we started walking the ckoud was starting to lift and by lucnchtime we had blue skies and sunshine! Most of the wallk was on private land (with public accessways) and it had deer on it which we often saw wandering around in the higher hill country. The walk passed by some lovely burns and waterfalls. We had two stream crossings and lots of mud and bogs! The walk down to Loch Earn was beautiful-the loch was really calm-you could see reflections of the trees in the water and the autumn colours were really beautiful.
We got back to Comrie for a drink at the local pub at 6pm then headed back to Crieff. We had 10 in our group (4 pulled put at the beginning of the day because of the waether!) and I met one lady, Alison, who was also going to Braincroft Lodge last night so she was able to give me a lift there which was really nice. We had a great chat over dinner-it's been great meeting lots of really lovely people this week.
This morning I was meant to go on another walk but I've caught a bit of a head cold and didn't want to push myself too much so I've just had a quiet 1 hour walk to Comrie from Braincroft through some lovely forest and farmland-it is a lovely autumn morning this morning.
On Tuesday I had a day trip to Edinburgh with the main aim to pick up my passport from the Indian Consulate General as I had left it there 3 weeks ago when I submitted my visa application. I got it back with a tourist visa successfully attached-yippee!
I'll sign off now.
Love to you all, Sonia
