Another pretty ace day in this stupidly long trip.
Slept like a log after spending hours uploading and tagging all of my china and Vietnam pictures. Only Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore to go :-P

I fell asleep in the car after writing that.
We'd been to Phillip Island to see some koalas and penguins.
It's the island the BBC did a documentary type thing on. Penguin island? Remember that? Well that's where we went.

It was muchos funos. I was pretty pants at spotting the koalas in the trees at the nature reserve but I got the hang of it eventually. Even managed to witness some that bothered to move!

Oooh also managed to spot my first Big Thing, like Danny Wallace :o) it was a koala too
Actually, looking at the list on wikipeadia, we probably saw 2. A giant wave outside some surf shops.
It wasn't a hippo. It was most definitely a wave, complete with photo op surf board in the middle.

After we left the koalas and sneaky ninja wallabies we headed down to the coast where we'd see the penguins coming in from their long fishing trips.

Bryan hadn't told me he'd booked the ultimate penguin experience, rather than the plain old viewing stands like everyone else.
We got given super cool lanyards, waterproof trousers and jackets, little backpacks, a folding chair torches and night vision goggles!!
Instead of sitting in the well lit stands with hundreds of other people, we were in a group with two other people and sat directly on the beach on the other side of the island.
The tiny Little penguins were only feet away from us as they made their way from the beach up to their homes. We got even closer when we walked back to the centre and got to see some outside their little wooden artificial houses. It was really cool.
Also spotted a quite cute rat on the beach, along with a wallaby and rabbit on the walk back.

It was a fantastic day. Really unique experience
