Despite much trying I have so far failed to get rid of my shorts tan lines from yesterday's ferry ride out here! Gosh darn it!
Thankfully I have another 6 days to fix it.
Tuesday afternoon I flew to Nadi from Auckland. They failed to give me an immigration card on the plane, starting the first of many questions asking where I'm from. Apparently I could pass for Maori or Fijian. I hope I don't look Maori, those women are built big and are quite honestly pretty ugly, unless of course you like your women to look like men.
Anyhoo, locals tend not to believe I'm British!
So once off the plane I was herded into a minibus with far too many other people plus all our luggage and taken to the hostel. I got squished next to an Irish guy called Tim who became my roommate for the evening.
In the morning I boarded a coach to the ferry terminal with the hope they'd know what I was doing for the next week as my itinerary was incredibly vague to say the least. Thankfully they did and I got on a boat and was nicely baked for 3.5hrs!
We arrived at midday ish and were greeted by a row of guys perving on the unloading passengers.
I think in all honesty they were disappointed with the offerings but I soon befriended them anyway, as it turns out I was the best of a bad bunch :oP (my words not theirs, they had nicer things to say about me and my breasts, especially in the too small bikini top I was later baking in)
The food so far has been really good but I probably should have mentioned I don't eat fish. Next island I definitely will!
Last night ended pretty well. I made the lads play drinking games [Matt, mike, George, Ed, Mike and Neil incase you were wondering]. The only game with cards other than go fish or snap that I can comprehend. God bless Scottish Paul for teaching me. It's come in very handy but unfortunately has now gained the new name fingers. Ah well, it still works the same
I ended up kissing a boy in a hammock. Which was nice but manoeuvring two people in a hammock in the dark is no easy feat!
Unfortunately he left for another island this afternoon with the other guys, which sucks coz flirting with him was loads fun. I'm gonna miss the banter.
Ho hum, I might bump into him again on another island.
Today we went on a cave trip. I was somewhat terrified to be honest. Diving 1m down and 4m along before coming up into an air pocket on the other side sounded terrifying but it was alright actually. It was so dark though when they turned the lights off (obviously Ny, it's a cave!) and thankfully I wasn't informed of the eels until on the way out!
Tomorrow I'm off on a blue lagoon trip before heading to a different island.
I love this travelling lark!
Ooh here's a few random facts
*the guy holding the "will you marry me Annie?" sign at the Eng vs Scot game was George
*there was a praying mantis on my bed when I got back earlier
*more gossip on Matt and mine's disappearance from the drinking game is available on request
*there's still phone signal out here!
