G'day guys!

How are you all doing in sunny England? Seems like ages since I have updated my blog so I thought I would let you all know what I've been up to!!

Now I can't really remember when I last wrote so ill have to guess! Things have been great here on the farm, loads of fun, doing new things and meeting new people! Last week was good fun, we had to heard the cows across the road- which meant getting Jenny out of bed early when she is hungover and making her stand on top of the car to stop all the traffic so the cows could cross the road- fun fun fun!! Ha ha!

I also pierced a calf's ear the other day which really was an experience! I think I was more scared to do that than I was to come to Oz in the first place! Lol However, I did it- poor thing! We also had to put another one in the other ear and then put a ring around its balls (so they drop off!) Doesn't sound or look very nice but has to be done! So as you can imagine- very interesting! I also did some drenching which is kind of like lice treatment for a pet- but for a cow! Think I mastered that...although Ben may say otherwise!! He he! Then we had to chop their tails so we knew who had been done! We also had a cow jumping out of the crush that day which was a bit scary as it jumped as high as my head! Actually there were 2 jumpers if I remember rightly- so that was pretty dangerous!!

We also had to collect up some cows to kill and take them down to the abattoir. Not a very nice place- especially when you see all the animals squashed up in these tiny cages waiting to die- although they don't know that.

We have had lots of new calves in the last week or two so have been busy looking after them and making sure they have everything they need- although angry mummy cow is not very impressed when we do! Ha!

Tanya and Jonny left the farm the other day so I was a bit sad to see them go as we have spent the last 7 or so weeks with them! But we had a new arrival called Fran, she is from Germany. We also have a Canadian, and aussie and another pom on the way....today actually- they are just not here yet! So that will make it noisy again!!

I went to Sale and Mulgrave markets this weekend which was good as they are really nice markets. It was a little sad at Sale tho as we have got to know a lot of the regulars so we were saying goodbye to them as we won't be at the next market which is next month. So that was nice as they were all wishing me well and saying how nice it was to meet us etc etc.....

Last weekend I went to Eltham and Pakenham and we also went to Keysborough and Aspendale which is right on the coast which means I could visit my FIRST aussie beach! I even had a paddle in the sea! You can probably see from the photos on facebook that we enjoyed ourselves!! So that was cool....

We have also been drinking quite a bit lately- what with Tanya and Jonny leaving and different things going on so off the grog for a while! However I did meet a nice American dude on Friday night who I may be meeting up with again so that's good but we will see how it goes....

As for future plans, the current plan of action is to leave the farm on the 19th September, spend a week or 2 in Melbourne (cos I love it!) and then head up to Sydney...really excited about that!

I thinks that's all there is to report at the moment but I have spoken to everyone pretty recently so I'll keep you all up to date when i can!
