Hey Hey everyone!!
Hope you are all well and enjoying the summer!
I have had a mad few weeks over here so its been all go!
A few days ago the farm ran out of water which was a bit scary! Because we are kind of in the middle of no-where all the water we have is stored outside in a tank and is only topped up by rain water, therefore when it runs out - its gone! (as you can guess we have to use the water very sparingly!) This was actually the case the other day- was so funny- no one knew what to do! lol Ben told me it would be a few days before the truck could get here so there was me thinking OMG NO SHOWERS!! Because the house is in the middle of the field, when it rains cars tend to get stuck in the mud so as you can imagine a huge water lorry would probably have a bit of trouble! Anyway I went out shortly afterwards and got back to find that the water had been replaced straight away and that they were going to carry on winding me up as the knew how bad I am about having a shower! Cheeky!
I have done loads of markets now all over the place, I have been to Mulgrave, Knoxfield, Essendon, Mornington Peninsula, Maffra and Bainsdale so far and im not sure yet where im going this weekend! Last weekend we went and stayed in Melbourne for the markets and woke up on Sunday to find that all the money tins had gone missing so we all paniced thinking that someone had broken in during the night and all sorts! we have yet to solve the mystery of the missing money...
So we are living on rations this week due to lack of money which makes for some interesting meals! I have spent the last 3 1/2 weeks eating something beef related every single day so my bowels are starting to hate me but never mind! i have been eating loads of veg too- which I know my mum will be very impressed to hear! And tell Nan that I ate parsnips and didnt chuck up...im sure she will be soooo proud! ha ha! I also did a 2km walk to the matrix the other day= AND BACK AGAIN! which is equivalent to 1 1/2 miles each way! 3 mile walks are now obviously me thin...i dont think!
Anyway...I also went to a sheep auction last week which was interesting as never imagined I would ever go anywhere like that but hey this is supposed to be an adventure! I had a lot of mixed feelings about it actually, felt like a vegatarian by the end of the day! to see the way the animals were treated was an eye opener but at the same time Belinda kept reminding me that these sheep are born to die so i tried to keep my perspective. Listening to the auctioneers was wierd as well- they talked so fast i thought one of us must have been on speed or something! Belinda did buy some sheep so we will also be selling lamb next weekend as well as beef to make things a little more interesting!
On Monday me and Shian went to work at the butchers. It was in a gorgeous little town called Lindenow, about an hour away from Sale. It was just like in the movies with the mailboxes and the old men in the rocking chair on the front porch ah it was lovely! Working in the butcvhers was mad! We were masrinating all the roasts- yum! OMG you should see all the meat they have hanging in the chillers- like whole cows hanging up and stuff! never seen anything like it in my life! and to watch him chop it into all the right cuts- amazing stuff! i couldnt be a butchers but it was an experience to see behind the scenes and learn something about the industry! i am turning into a bit of a meant (well, beef) pro! not sure that is something to be proud of...especially when they are all wondering about outside the house! lol
Also a few days ago it was Abbie's 6th brthday so we all had a great day, blowing up baloons, wrapping presants, making cakes and face painting! well if you can call it face painting- more like facial abuse! lol but it was good fun- i love birthdays! so you will prob see the pics of that on facebook soon. I was like a big kid!!
Well with all this hard work a girl deserves a night out right? Thats what me and Belinda thought so last friday we went out on the town! had a great time seeing the nightlife around a village like this- the way things are different here. Although I cant say i totally fot in as I could not excape the fact that i was english which then leads to a further 20 questions about what im doing ....blah blah blah... but once that was all over and we were partying the night away, Belinda kindly reminded me that it was 3am and i had to be up for market in 3 hours.... As you can imagine the market wasnt great fun and im pretty sure i was still drunk...
An experience yes, not one i plan on repeating for a while....(until next week lol!)
Ah, here is something that will make you realise why you stayed at home...I met my first huntsman spider today which was lovely...pictures to follow....
Ah while i remember, can everyone please let me know if they have sent me anything via the mail as I am having a problems recievng it so I need to know what peoplke have sent so i can look ut for it! The address i am at the moment is a PO Box so I need to stay on my toes so I dont miss anything- thanks guys!

Anne Kohler Glad to hear from you Jen, was a little concerned that we hadn't heard from you in a while- sounds like you are having a great time!!!!!!!! Take and lots of love
sandie Hi Jen, I just have to say I hate spiders, lovely is not the word I would use! We have had some wonderful weather here, been swimming in the sea it was lovely but the schools finish next week and the weather has brocken, typical! We have our carinval at the end of the month with the red arrows preforming hope it doesn't rain! Keith and Rita are coming down next week and staying with Marilyn and Peter they are all coming over and we are going for a meal, should be a good evening. Next week your Dad and myself are going up to Bridlington to see Clarice, she has already started to cook for him! Take care of yourself and have fun. Lots of Love Sandie.
Daddy Hey Wanderer.. Doesn't it make you realise how lucky we are to be able to just turn on a tap and find water (well in some houses anyway, not always this one...) I think Nanny wrote you a letter a little while ago, have you received it? I am not sure to what address she sent it.... All these new skills you are learning should make it easier for you to find a job when (and if) you come home. Can I really see you as a butcher though? not sure about that one. Today and tomorrow I am off work which will give me the time to dust and hoover etc. etc. as I have auntie Sandie coming to stay next weekend....2 days might not be enough time though... Found Lindenow on the map, you are certainly getting around out there, maybe you ought to think about learning to drive whilst you are there... Received your text about the tax thing... Love you always Daddy
