Monday 14th July - Chearsley
Moving north we drove up to Sutton Coldfield for lunch with Jean & John Topliss. They were both well & it was great to catch up again after a few years. After a very slow progress we eventually arrived at Sue & Ken's place in Wilmslow. Ken looks so much better after having his hips fixed. After dinner we drove on to Bollington for the night.
Tuesday 15th July - Bollington
Sue & Ken took us to Dunham Massey an NT house which has been set up with its layout as a WW1 Auxiliary Hospital. Actors played short scenes from the period & the beds have the histories of individual patients of the time. The whole thing was very moving & quite disturbing. We then walked around on a guided tour of the gardens which were wonderful.
Wednesday 16th July - Bollington
Sue & Ken took us to Styal Quarry Bank Mill, where we had lunch & walked around the gardens, which are being restored. They are above & on the side of a, steep cliff above the millstream. In the evening we took them out to dinner in Wilmslow before returning to Bollington.
