Wednesday 28th October Woke up at about 6 this morning to find we had docked in Kusadasi, in Turkey, the nearest point to the old city of Ephesus where most of the passengers went. We had a lazy breakfast & walked across the quay into the town which we had stayed in many years before. The town certainly had grown & was looking quite prosperous. We changed £20 for 86 Turkish Lire, which has had at least 2 noughts taken off it since we were last here....

Saturday 24th October d*** woke up feeling better & after breakfast we packed up & took a taxi to the station where we eventually managed to buy tickets to Venice. An uneventful journey but when we arrived we set out to look for the monorail to the basin for the ship but couldn't work out which one to take so we walked. Tuesday 20th October Up at 5.30 & off to return the car at 7.00. Finally arrived at Gatwick airport at 7.30 & the plane left at 10.15 for Verona. Arrived in 90 minutes & took the shuttle bus to the station & a taxi from there to our Residencia. It isan amazing place with beautiful old furniture, cooking facilities & a lounge area, about 3 times as big as we had envisaged. Thursday 15th October Farewelled Jenny at Brockenhurst at 10 & went to Winchester where we had lunch with Lucilla & Gareth. Moving on we drove to Kintbury to see Ann, one of Dick's favourite cousins. By chance we were early so we walked out of her side gate into the pathway & there she was returning from lunch in the village. Jane & Ann spent the next hour & a half correcting family data for the family tree before we left on the final part...
