Day 15,19 July 2012, Quickie update - Kisolanza Farm, 50 km odd from Iringa is seriously the business. Solar powered generators for night time electricity, wood fires to heat the water and everyone had their first hot showers in about 3 days. Glorious! Long drop dunnies with a sufficiently long drop such that they were the cleanest loos in about 3 days also. After a long drive yesterday we were instructed to arrive at the bar at 7 pm for dinner. Now the itinerary said dinner was in a local Masai hut with an evening of Tanzanian entertainment. After 11 hours in the truck "culture" was the last thing on our "to do" list. We reported to the very swish thatched area and were blown away - glowing charcoal heaters, tablecloth, napery and actual porcelain plates. And wine, in glasses! Ahhhh. Dessert was chocolate brownies and hot chocolate with "Wild Africa" liqueur (a dead set ringer for Irish Cream). These delights were served in another large, cosy thatched hut with more charcoal braziers and the smell of freshly hand ground coffee and chocolate in the air. We lounged on woven cushions on top of hay bales and laughs were had. Mainly though we were planning how soon we could decently nip away for our pre-sleep hot shower. On the off-chance you find yourself in the area, make a point of staying at Kisolanza. Off to Mikumi National Park tomorrow - North of Iringa and one of Tanzania's smaller southern parks. Game drive tomorrow afternoon - wild animals, brace yourselves!!!
