Natalie's adventures
Hello again!!
Yesterday I went on a day trip. In the morning we drove around the city for a bit while our tour guide Gayle explained the histroy of Adelaide. Then we went to Haigh's chocolate factory where we had a quick tour and had some free chocolate, mmmmmm!!!!! We were supposed to go up Mt Lofty to get a view of the city but the fog was so bad that there was no point so we went to Hahndorf which is a picturesque German town and we had extra time to shop. I wandered round with an Aussie girl (Ashley) who was there with her Mam and sister. I bought some sweets and a really funky pair of gloves!! We then came back to the city and I had 40 mins for lunch.
In the afternoon we went into the Barossa valley for some wine tasting. The fist place we went was the Chateau Yaldarra (or something like that). I'm not a big wine fan but it is rude to turn down free alcohol so I tried 4 or 5 different wines and 2 liquers. At the next winery (Grant Burge) I tried a few more wines but was starting to wish I had eaten more than just an apple at lunchtime. At the last winery, I decided to skip the wines and headed straight for the meads. Tried 3 or 4 different ones and then had to buy a sandwich to soak up some of the alcohol. We were dropped back in Adelaide about 6pm. There was a kiwi couple on the tour who have given me their phone number so I can stay at their house for a night or two when I go to Wellington!!!!
Today I had to check out of the hostel as its my last day in Adelaide. I wandered around the city for a bit and then went into a free museum for an hour or two. I spent some time siting in the botanical gardens writing in my journal and then when it got too cold and dark, I went to the library to carry on writing. I grabbed some food and then headed back to the hostel to collect my luggage before heading to the coach station to catch the overnight greyhound coach to Melbourne.
