Well I have spent the last 2 weeks in luxury! We arrived in Perth to find we would be staying in a very large and lovely house in the outskirts of Perth. The house had 4 bedrooms, a playroom and an amazing, well equipped kitchen ( a real novelty for backpackers!). And it was clean!!!!
Sally (Debbie and Lucy's older sister) had prepared a lovely 3 course meal for us and stocked the fridge with lots of lovely food and wine! (Sally had arrived a day earlier than us due to Debbie and Lucy giving her the wrong date - she wasn't very happy, but it worked out very well for us).
The next day brought the arrival of Debbie and Lucy's mum! We greeted her at the airport with a lovely sign saying "Mummy Shaw", along with balloons and party hats. We got a few looks to say the least!
After a day or two exploring Perth, which is lovely, we headed down to the Margaret River (famous for it's food and wine). We spent the day tasting some of the most amazing cheese, as well as chocolate, biscuits and fudge. We managed to buy ourselves quite a feast for dinner that night.
After our food tour on Tuesday, we spent Wednesday on a wine tour of the Swan Valley. We boarded the boat at 9am to coffee and muffins and then by 10.30am we were tasting uot first four wines! By 11.30 we had stopped at our first winery to try another 6 wines and a port and were starting to feel the affects! Back on the boat we tried more wines and then went to another winery for a lovely 3 course lunch with as much free wine as we want. Lunch was followed by more wine tasting ( I was starting to struggle by this point) and then a return to the boat for as much free wine as we wanted ( provided we could walk in a straight line)! Overall a very enjoyable day... the Swan River was beautiful and I have chosen the place for my wedding...just need to find a guy now!
On Friday we were joined by Debbie and Lucy's Dad! Again we greeted him at the airport with balloons, hats and signs! He treated us to a very beautiful dinner at a very posh dinner at the harbour! This was after our trip to a prison! Which was actually very interesting, so much so that we returned the next week for another tour!
Our second week in the house was a little less busy; we visited the Pinnacles and Wave Rock. Both a little dissappointing, but good days out!
I have no said goodbye to the Shaw family, which was a little emotional as I won't see Debbie or Lucy for a good 9 months or more now! I am spending my last few days in Perth with Seb and Leah, a couple we met on the Whitsundays. I leave on Tuesday to fly to Melbourne and then Sydney. Then on Thursday I leave Australia and return to you guys in England! Speak to you all soon! xx
