I flew from Santa Cruz to La Paz on Saturday (16th) at 7.45am. Got a window seat but turned out to be the wrong side for flying right by the massive mountain Illumani, but there were still some nice views, of the other snow- capped mountains and of La Paz as we flew in to the airport of El Alto, the highest airport in the world at 4100m! (Photo not Samaipata!) On Monday 11th I took a flight to Santa Cruz, 30 minutes, and avoiding a minimum 14 hour overnight bus. From the airport I went straight to the place for shared transport to the village of Samaipata. Had to wait for about 45 minutes for 3 others and we set off- the drive took about 2 and a half hours.
