So I have now been in Melbourne for almost a month and it has been great fun! Over the last few weeks I have visited the Australain Centre for the moving image, we were like small children running around and getting involved in every interactive activity there was from making flip books of ourselves to getting a 360 degree video of us spinning around! I have visited St Kilda beach a few times, but still yet to see the penguins! We went to St kilda beach yesterday, and I am still finding sand in my hair even after two showers, you would have thought I had been doing head stands and rolling around in the sand but I just layed on my towel!! I have now visited Richmond and Fitzroy area, both are pritty cool, I really like Brunswick Street in Fitzroy becasue it is full of really quirky shops and coffee shops!
I now finally have a job! That wasnt as easy as I thought it would be! I got offered a 'sports marketing' job which me being me thought it was going to be great and got completly sucked into how they 'sold' the job to you, first day...11 hours, no break, no pay....didnt go back for a second day! But now I have a bar job working at a restaurasnt named 'The Meat Market'.
Last week we went to Queen Victoria night market which was great fun, they have everytime of food you can imagine, live music and really cute market stalls and street performers! I went with Lyndsey and a Korean girl names Lina who we shared a room with for two nights. We have also been to South Melbourne Market twice now (saturday mornings) to get our groceries for the week..much cheaper and much fresher than the supermarket!
Melbourne has still been supplying the 'funny characters' last weekend we saw a man dancing in the street in the middle of the afternoon, with his headphones in so no-one else can hear his music. He doesnt do this for money, so I am not quite sure what he does it for, but I have seen him about 3 times now. He has a favourite dance move...hand on hip and a shake of his bum!! It is even funnier watching people's reaction when they realise what he is doing!! I also made friends with a guy that drives horse and carriages around the city, he told Lyndsey and I that when we next see him he will give us a free ride around the city!
I now only have 3 weeks left in Melbourne before I head to Sydney for christmas and New year which I am very excited about!!
I am writing this whilst sitting in Federation square which has now been covered in christmas trees! To me it still doenst feel quite right seeing as it is 35 degrees today! It is so warm that I am actually sitting in the shade!!
