Good morning England!
Hello all, wow has been a while since we've written anything on here... have discovered that Vietnam is a very strange and wonderful place! Such a different country to everywhere else we have been so far, a lot lot more full on and a bit in your face at times but you can't help but love it.
When we last wrote on here we were waiting for a train to our next destination Nha Trang. It was a very long journey, but comfortable enough. The only downside is that all the Vietnamese wake up at stupid o'clock, and are slurping away at their noodle soups by 4.30am. Surprising how well you can sleep on a seat once you get used to it though! Luckily the train arrived 2 hours late so it was only 8am when we got there and started our walk to the 'backpacker central'! A guy stopped us on our way and offered us a free lift to his hotel which was nice as it saved us a 3km walk. We got there and had a wicked room with all the kit (tv, a/c, fridge and hot shower!) for a very good price. Seems to be the standard out here which is nice. Again, we mostly spent the day snoozing and recovering from the limited sleep we'd had (seems to be what we do at the moment). We eventually woke up and had a wander around, getting to grips with our area. There were so many restaurants, mostly western food, we actually struggled to find some vietnemese food!
We didn't actually do alot whilst we were in Nha Trang. The beach was quite nice but very touristy as it is a large town (the Eastbourne of Vietnam). A lot of holiday makers, so people EVERYWHERE which was strange, and women constantly coming up to you trying to sell you stuff. Was very odd to be lying on a beach and hear the main road behind you... they have bit of a thing for beeping their horns in Vietnam, constantly, sometimes even when there is nothing to beep at so it was pretty noisy! The sea itself unfortunately was very very choppy, although I (Nina) did brave it and it was quite fun getting thrown around by the waves hehe. I think we are a bit spoilt when it comes to beaches, as after Malaysia we have gotten so used to perfect beaches, and having them to ourselves! Still, it had everything you needed to spend a comfortable few days, so we did.
We were planning on going further down the coast to another, quieter beach called Mui Ne. However, it was a bit of a hassle to get to and it was very pricey in comparison so we stuck around in Nha Trang. We basically just sat in the shade of palm trees, and ate, read books and slept... quite nice really as it had been a good month since we had literally done nothing all day.
Anyway, after a few days, we decided that we had been lazing around for long enough and booked train tickets to S-S-S-Saigon. Quite exciting as most of the history from the 'American War', as they call it out here, is based around there.
Will update again soon, love you all long time x x x x x x x
