Hope all of you are well, i have thwe good news that i shall be meeting my ol'man in India once i leave singapore so shall see you all hopefully in March.
On the 9th December we began our journey by bus across the Laos border and into Cambodia. (Looking back i do not recommend this to anyone).
1) Journey lasted 36 hours of pure hell
2) Met soem lovely German Lasses who took it upon themselves to feed me and hims.
3) 1 Dodgy VIP Bus, a crooked man who charged us $35 to get to Siem Reap, 3 dodgy dodgy mini vans which im sure should be deemed not fit for the road, a night in some dodgy ghost town with no money but the $5 needed for the room
4) Finally but not least, Dalsy left su to go Koh Samet form Vientianne so there was only 4 left but in Me T's coffee shop we managed to run into Thomasino again...This meant we would be having some good drinking sessions in Siem Reap. We also had one more new addition, Sana a german girl travellin on her Todd began to tagg along and found herself sharing a triple room with Dan & Thomas (Haha, if only she knew what she got herself into)
36 hours later, on the afternoon of the 11th we arrived in Siem Reap and booked ourselves in to Garden Village Guesthouse which was situate di the heart of Siem Reap. place is a goldmine it has a roof top bar called the sunset bar where we spent loads of time, it served Angkor beer on draft (Mmmmm), a footall pitch (well at least that is what they called it) and best of all it had the best bar maids in the world.
That day we decided to experience the small town of Siem Reap and as you can imagine, we had our own little BAR CRAWL!! Thomas as always got smashed, the funny thing is as he was only in Siem Reap for Two days he and Sana both had to do the tour of the Angkor Temples the following morning (5 am start). The boys took it upon themselves to get smashed and as you can expect, the following morning our strict Sana was up and ready at 5am whilst Thomas was still fast asleep (haha) he managed to wake up and be out for 6am. lol. The funny thing is still to come, as Sana was ona tight budget she roped Thomas into hiring a bicycle and riding to the temples, Thomas agreed whilst heavily intoxicated and had to ride the 6km to the temple in scorching heat.lol
The boys gradually woke up at 12pm and made our way downstairs so we could fetch a bite to eat, and bumped into thomas who only spent 3 hours at the temple as he was shattered and said they all look the same..haha when we asked where Sana was his eply can not be noted on this family friendly blog. lol. Apparently he put his foot down and wanted a coffee, the efficient Sana was not ipressed and tehy aprted ways for the rest of the day. We pretty much spent the day lounging and managed to watch 'American Gangster' on DVD in the sunset bar, Great film and managed to get pally with the barmaids (good laugh, There was mummy and her 2 girls). And as always play plenty of games of killer pool, and drink loads of Angkor beer.
The 13th was pretty much the same, we chilled out, ate and drank and bumped ito the lovely Flo. The argie we met at our s***e accomodation on the night of the 10th in North Cambodia. Flo managed to sort us out with a tuk tuk driver who would take us that eveening to see the sunset from one temple, and spend the next day taking us to the main 3 temples (Angkor Wat, Angkor Tomb, and Ta Prohm)
1) angkor Wat is amazing in size but for detail inside it is not the best ever - maybe because we were still drunk from niht before and were awake at 4am to see the sunrise.
2) Angkor Tomb is great, the temple with hundreds of faces everywhere carved in the large stone blocks is great (see for yourself when i put pix up)
3) Ta Prohm where Tomb Raider was filmed is my fave, reasons for this is this temple looks like it has been left to deteriorate with no interferrance, it is pretty much battered and has some enormous tree trunks growing over the temple walls.
Thats the temples out the way..the rest is pretty much about the same as everywhere else since north thailand, Food, Drinks, Getting Drunk and meeting some wicked people.
1)Sunderland Lads, we took em out one night and go them bladdered - we were pretty messed up too but we really managed to get em Forked!! think its all the training from the Beer Laos coming into effect.
2) We totally dominated the Angkor Wat Bar, our one big night in Cambodia was hosted by the Angkor Wat bar where myself, Flo, Dan and Hims decided the dentist cahir would be a good idea!! OMG!! After that ws pretty much a blur except for me and hims dancing on tables to the Queen classic 'Don't stop me now, im having sucha good time....' lol
3) Became a part of the furniture in the Sunset bar, playing the local kids in pool and getting hustled by the little hurricane higgins.
4) Made a new local friend, apparently he is named 'boom boom' and he likes to call everyone else 'boom boom' lol. Guy is nts, he was getting trashed with su in the Sunset bar and he casually dropped in that his missus had just given birth.lol. needless to say he stayed in the bar and carried on drinking..legend!
5) had numerous coversatios with the local kids trying to sell books and postcards.. there technique is second to now... KID 'you want to buy my postcard for girlfriend mister', ME 'i dont have a girlfriend', KID 'You knwo why you dont have girlfriend?' ME 'Why?' KID 'Because you knwo buy my postcard' LOL
We managed to make our way back to bangkok on the morning of the 16th where we spent 7 hours in a mini cab, crossing the border (what a great border to cross..lol) and ina Mini van which was probably the best i have been on in this trip so far!! Got to Bangkok to meet Dalsy around 3pm only to be told there is an alcohol ban until midnight. We sat in the pub and watched the MANCS cheat..AGAIN and i hate to admit it but also watch Arsenal play some good football. The Gullivers staff had realised the punishment teh farangs had taken with no booze and managed to slipa few sly singha beers at 11pm, and in the next hour and a half us 5 lads had drained 5 beers.
It si now the 17th and Dan and Dalsy are leaving for Koh Phangan where we will meet for the Full Moon Party and Xmas Lunch, so myslef and the boys are having a detox tonight before Monkey. Minky and Beans arrive tomoz morning!! I can not wait. haha.
So for now it is bye, i am trying to find decent comps to upload some pix..keep checking and they will be up there soon. X
