Woohoo!!! hey all (",)
In Vang vieng now the home of Toobing, Late Night Parties and days chilling on sofas in pubs watching friends..I LOVE THIS PLACE!!
Got her on the 5th Dec as you all know and we pretty much spent the day in some rasta bar on the main strip (20 secs walk from our guesthouse) getting totally lashed on bottles of guess what?? yep, Beer Lao. The only reason we stayed in this bar is because of the servings they provided from the kitchen, sounded too good to miss so we all sat and ordered our .... PIE'N CHIPS! and it was well worth it, thats the reason the Rasta bar deserved a night of our company. LOL
However. the following day we went Toobing, for those who are unaware of the term toobing. We left our guesthouse on a dodgy tuk tuk with 6 infaltable large dingys attached to the top to our starting point which was 6 km away. From here, we were simply left to get in our Toobs and let the river take us in its flow, this si the main part now. At various stops down the river there are various river side bars where the bar staff throw out ropes to drag you in to the bar. All the bars also have various things going on, few with swings which allow you to take 12/16 ft drops into the river, beach volleyball, etc etc etc. BEST DAY SO FAR!!!
Had just got into the toob and started drifting when i was pulled into the first bar, still feeling rough form the night before i began my first beer lao of the day at about midday, within half a bottle feeling considerabbly lean myself and Rick took to the swing in the hope it may sober me up slightly!! NOPE!!! just got my adrenaliung going so another Beer Lao was on the cards very soon (Bear in mind this is the first stop of many). Managed to pull myself away with various travellers in tow (Friendly lot and you will see pix of number 1 whern i find a computer where i can actually upload the pix). We skipped bars 2 & 3 as they were only metres away and settled for the swing bar (Myself and Hims had no choice - we saw the gold bikini) here we had a few more Beer Laos and played some beach soccer'volleyball type sport. Actually weren't as bad as we thort so we started our flicks, impressed a few people and stroded off back towards a toob for the next round.....
Various stops later, we found ourselves at the supposedly laststop at 6pm and it was getting dark. We stood by the bonfire drying off and thinking this would be are last beer lao until later that evening. We actually eblieved it was the last stop and a tuk tuk man was coming...until we realised Owen (# 1) come and say we were the last 8 and the last stop was some 3 km away (you can imagine how much time was spent at the first few bars - OMG) we plucked up the courage to get back in the cold river with no light (well me rick n him did, Thomas, Matt and Dan were cool. LOL) lots of drunk singing in the dark on a toob down the river we found ourselves being called a shore by Matt and Dan (thomas was with us 3), half an hour of trying to get up some dodgy cliff face we found ourselves soaked and standing at the white house, being greeted by the wonderful family feeding the boys buffalo skin (i tried and it weren't my cup of tea). Dryed up by the fire, and with a Cold Beer Lao from the familys fridge, we started singing karaoke.. all 8 of us lads!! 1 irish man, 4 english man, i scotsman, a Savva and an Italian all out of tune singing tunes from this guys karaoke catalogue which was full of love songs...hahaha Toobing is a must for anyone and everyone in SE Asia!! best day ever...
