Hellooooo!!!
Have just had a fantastic few days in Budapest, managing to cram lots in. We arrived saturday evening after a bit of a bumpy flight, poor lisa spilt her drink 3 times although I think the turbulance was just an excuse!! Hostel was basic but perfect location for the sziget festival whihc is where we have sent most of our time. The festival is far better than any of the english ones I have been to the people are much more friendly and the atmosphere was constantly buzzing.
Sunday morning we ventured to the island where the festival is situated and enjoyed a relxaing morning, taking in the very very muddy surrondings. In the afternoon we took a taxi into Buda where we arrived at Alis house ( a friend from university) we were fed an extremely tasety bbq and enjoyed the fantatic views from her balcony. The view stretched right down to pest on the other side of he river, very impressive!!
Sundaz afternoon we took another taxi with ali and her guet (more of y friends from uni, so there was about 10 of us) and we all went to the festival. We had a fantastic evenin with highlights including razorlight and faithless!
Mondaz morning lisa and I took a tri to the other island, Marget Sziget where we strolled around the parks and went swimming in some fantastic ools which had a wave machine and bubbles and waterfalls, not forgetting slides. It was a very relaxin morning the very warm sunshine! in the afternoon we walked along the river to the city centre. A truely specalur place with buildings from many different periods and styles all absolutely stunning. In articular st stehens basicila and he opera house srin to mind.
Monday evenin feeling a littl bit tired after our long day decided to just op down to the festival although we bumped into ome more englsh people and we just chatted and danced away all evenin until we realised the sun had risen!!
Tuesday morning we met up with Will ) a friend from the previous evenin) and his friend Caroline who he also had met whilt travelling, together we visisted the castel district and took ini yet more spectaluar views of the city and amazing well.. castles!! And soaked up parliament for a second time. For lunch we ventured into a little resturante in the castle district where i decided to branch out a try the highly recomnded wild boar stew! was actually really good!!
The evening called for our final tri pto the fetival where Will and Caroline introduced us to more people thez had bmet whilst ravelling we were uch a mixed bunch with people from australia, america, france and th uk. Another evening of dancing and enjoying the company and atmosphere. Although this evening invovled copious amounts of body aint, I opted for a warrios stylee, i feel lisas was more cave girl! haha
Th festival attracted people from all over the world and I have spoken o peole from Hungray (obviously!) and Isral, Italy all over and all seem surprised tha I am english. Unforntuately other countries have this vision of english girls as over weight and not very friendly so I was very hay to prove them wrong!!
