We spent another night in Nafplio. We hit beach for a little while, and had dinner in a restaurant recommended to us by the owner lady of the hotel. It was good. The wine was awesome and came in a large metal mug, from which we poured into a shot glass. It was good and we were slightly inebriated. Then we hit the internet cafe briefly and went to bed. We do not yet have an alarm clock, so we proceded to sleep in...again. We drove a short ways to Argos and saw some ruins there. We stumbled upon Larissa Castle, which is not so much a tourist attraction. We think it was, but is now rundown, and is now decorated with grafitti and beer bottles. This place overlooked the valley in nearly every direction. And we had it all to ourselves. One of my favorites because of this fact. We then found Mycanae and it's ancient city. The museum at this place had the best information for the exhibits. It was the oldest of the ancient sites we've seen. We made our way back to Corinth and have been here the last few hours. Notice that we made our way back, and found these places. Driving around Greece is getting much easier now that we've learned to decipher some of the Greek characters. Both of us have driven the car, but Max will be taking us back to Athens in the morning. The driving is a little stressful, but it is nice not stressing about the bus/train system. I'm definitely looking forward to Italy for the language similarities.
It is 6:30 and we're looking for places to stay. A beach would also be nice, and maybe we'll sleep in the car. Depends on what we find. The neighboring town of Loutraki looks like it might have both a beach and a hostel.
The hostel from the last couple nights was nice because it was just 25 Euros per night. And we didn't have to share a room or bathroom with anybody. It had A/C, but it didn't seem to come on as it was supposed to. Mosquitos were a little big of a problem, since there are no screens on the windows/doors, but it is too hot to keep them closed.
We had gyros and a beer at a local "fast food" place here in Corinth. They were awesome. Then we hit a sweet shop (I've been wanting to for quite some time,) and had some icecream and chocolate. Also little muffin things that were primarily creamcheese frosting and fruit on top.
It is amazing how much we do in the day and think, "oh, we gotta write this on our blog," and then forget.
I'll let Max add more in his fancy writing form. His plan is to put together a slideshow of our trip when we get back. Sounds like a great idea, but I'll leave the writing to him. My strength lies behind the camera for this project. And navigating. Assuming that everybody makes mistakes.
Love you all,
Nikki
