The drive from LA to the wilderness was an eventful one in that we kinda left it a bit late to leave and ended up driving in the dark through the park. The roads were winding, the amount of snow (yes, I said snow) increased on the side of the road and there was even a layer of eerie fog covering most of the road. It was probably a good thing that I couldn't see much as we find out a day or two later that on the side of the road was a huge drop to death. Fact!
We eventually made it about 11ish and hurried to the canvas tent cabin for fear of the bears. Now I wish we had actually seen one but at the time I was pretty freaked. The accommodation was pretty good, if not slightly cold - even with the heater. One of the best things was the buffet breakfast which was huge and covered every type of food group. Nom nom.
So the first day we hiked to Nevada Falls and Veralha Falls. Part of the original path was closed so had to climb up snow hills and various wooded areas where sitting on your butt was a far easier option to manoeuvre. The next day we hiked Columbia Rock to see the tallest waterfall in North America which was pretty hardcore as it sloped back and forth for about 2 miles on a steep incline. Good work out for my butt though.
On Monday we were pretty ready to leave the wilderness behind and as Sandra put it "get me back to concrete!!" On the way out we decided to stop off at the Seqouia Trees which were mother f*ckers of trees. We didn't have long to stay as needed to get the SF which took us about 5hours so I was pretty exhausted when we arrived.
The park was beautiful though and have taken about a 1,000 photos which I'll hopefully be able to upload soon.
