so after a very dusty dirty and bumby 7 hour bus ride i made it to Mt ABU ( the nausa started going up and then later down the winedy hill).
Mt ABU was not what i expected... from reading the bible (AKA LONELY PLANET) it sounded like an old colonial hill station quietly sitting on Nakki lake. how wrong i was. while there's not may foregion tourist there are loads of indian tourist and i mean loads remember the population of this country is 1 billion so that means even in surposed quiet little towns u can not get away.
it was interesting to see where indian tourists come for the holidays and w/e away. its the complete opposite to westerns. It felt like a theme park here with bight lights loud music and lots of vendors selling over priced absolute crap...
even the jain temple DILWARA which is surposed to be one of the most hoilista nd prized temples of india. When u get to the temple there are buses and buses of tourists. then ur asked to take off ur shoes and put ur bag into storage (only tourists get asked to put there bag in ...money) ur then put into lines say in groups of 30-50 pple then ur ashered into the temples and out like a herd of goats no time to explore or take in the beautiful stone and marbel carvings and then ur out again amongs the buses and people asking money from u for minding ur shoes and bags etc....
over all while it can be over whelming i did enjoy it. went ona short 4 hr trek in the surounding hills and forests then walked around Nakki lake relaxed and read my book. i managed to run into people i had met before and also some new faces so we had a good ground of pple to hang out with...
then i caught the night train to mumbai.. see ya there
