Foster's Tour
Hello every body
Will start from the begining from Melbourne. I had arranged a 3 day 2 night trip from melbourne to Adelaide. I was picked up at 7:45 in the morning. The mini bus for the trip seated 20 and there were 11 of us so plenty of space. On the tour wre Vincent and Desree from Holland, Edgar and Kristina form Mexico, Kelsea from Caneda, Sebastian and Iris from Germany, a girl from America (chic-a-go) but forgot her name and Will from England just outside Birmingham. Every one was young and they wre a fun bunch to travel with. Our tour guide was called Radar (long story...too long). (hello to any one if your reading this) We set of along the Great Ocean Road, stopping off at alll the major sights, and Radar took us to a waterfall that wasnt on the to-do list, which ment that we/she had to drive like a mad woman to make it to the Twelve Apostles in time for the sun set (see the above pic) once of the bus we all had to run (me in my flip flops) under the road in a tunel and across tgo a view point and we made it just in time and the view and sun set were stunning, we stayed there for a while taking plenty of pics, and then we hung aroiund to see the penguins come out from the sea into the dunes. They come out in masses but always get scared and run back into the sea or the tide pulls them back in, it was VERY funny to watch. We spent the night in a type of log cabbin in Port Cambell, drinking and playing cards. The next morning was an early start. W did more sight seeing inc Gibson steps, Loch and Gorge, Lonndon bridge, Bay of islands all of wich are either beaches or rock formations like the Twelve Apostles (again above pic). Then came one of the highlights of my whole trip. Me and Vincent decided to go up in a helecopter flight to view the Twelve Apostles and the others from the air, the trip only lasted 10-12 mins but it was awesome, cant wait to do it again some where else with goodd views. Then we drove into the Grampians which is a large mountain range that caught fire as recently as Jan this year and it was clear to see the damage it had done, every single tree was burt. Radar asked if we were upto climing a mountain but warned that it would be hard work and very high. It is the highest Point in the grampians at about 100000005 miles above the earth! The walk up is by a road as there is a Trasmiter at the top so i thought it would be p!ss easy...oh lord it was soo hard, it was soo steep by the time i got half way up i thought my calfs were on fire, Me and sebastian were at the front talking to each other and we just gave up talking becuse we where out of breath, as i reached the top i could feel how thin the air was and the lack of oxygen was apparent. But as i have said b4 the view was well worth it and a couple of us went of the path and climed some rocks to get a better view and watch the sun set throught the mountians. We spent the night in the Grampians in a chalett style place having a bbq drinking and playing games. the next morn again was an early one up at 7 out by 8. we went to see a water fall that is by far and away the largest i have seen in person so far, after another quick stop to see some white kangeroo's haha bless them. we strated a 5 hour drive onto Adelaide. I had been told by every one in oz that there was nothing to Adelaide but i only had one night there so not fussed, said good bye to every one but kelsea was staying in the same backpakers i had looked at, so we cheked in to mixed dorms. We started talking to an English girl from Chester. Kelsea went looking for the shops so Me and Claire started drinking and talking and an hour and a half later still no sign of kelsea, So we decided to get dressed (eg more than just shorts and vest) and go look for her, just as we wre about to leave she arrived and anounced that she did indeed get lost. Kelsea and the others in the room opted to stay in so just me and Claire went out about 9:30 ish. we went to a strange bar a first that had a shelf of Tack behind the bar, things like a Mr T dolls hugging a Virgin Mary statue and some 1960's lamps and other such Tack, then we found a very lively Bar/club but we felt like OAP's as every one looked 19 and wre dressed up for a night out unlike us in our jeans and flip flops, so we moved on and found a sports bar, we sat in ther for ages talking the world away then got chatting to 2 ozzy guys who wre plenty of fun and started playing pool together, they didnt stop searving drinks the whole time, brill we thought... that was untill we rea;ised that it was now 7:15 in the morning !!! it was soo light outside, we staggered back (claire more than me...you know its true claire and hope your well and the interview went well) we fell asleep and woke up at 2 hours later at ten to Claire cursing and running around (still drunk) trying to get ready for an interview...oh dear. I checked out and headded for the Airport. The flight to Perth was only 2 and a half hours. Arrived in Perth but decided that i wanted to head straight to Fremantle as peaople had raved about it. Arrived in Perth and caught a train to Freo (as the locals call it) oh by the way by now i have also realised that i have lost my MP3 player !!!!! gutted is not the word, im yet to fully empty my rucksak and look but i didnt put it in there so odds are its lost on the coach i was travelling in (yes i have called them and they will call back if found mum ) so im back to Cd's i can buy a new MP3 player but there wont be any songs on it so im a sick as. Any way searched for a back packers and found one thats an old fire station, the upstairs lounge/eating area is massive and has a pool table 4 free internett posts 2 free playstations a TV and a cooking and sitting area. Joined on is an Indian and if ypu go round the back (access for peaople staying in the hostel only) then you walk into the Indian by the kitchen at the back and can get a meal for $8 which is like 3 pound haha. got chatting to some people who advised that there was a few of them going to the beach with some drinks and wuold i like to join them....which i did. We went to the beach stocked up with drinks and blankets and warm clothes (it gets cold by the sea at night !!!!!) we were sat there 12 of us, some english, canadian, scottish, german, franch talking away listening to music via ipod and speakers when some random people (we think kids) set off fire work on the edge of the beach no further than 100mtrs away form us, but there must of been about $300 worth (no lie) they wree stunning and we all just sat there gob smaked it were brill, cant remember what time i got back. So that leads me to today. had a sleep in then went food shopping, made breki, then went ofr a walk around Fremantle, to the beach, sight seeing, to the local markets and small streets. The best way to describe Fremantle is nice or lovely, its just a little town and every thing is old and just nice. Also went on 2 tours of Fremantle Prison both were good but the great escape one which showed and talked about all the attempted escapes fun fun and interesting, one guy who escaped recently eg 1986 ish and never caught, came back once the prison was closed and went on the tour they only knew it was him because he signed the guest book with his real name and said it was nice to be back and not have to escape again in the comments, they matched his writting to ensure it was him...brill. another guy only had 3 months left and he was cleaning the top of the wall and fell over the other side, and bevause he didnt wat to get caught and people think he was running away he snook around the wall and went and knocked on the front door/gate and asked them to let him back in hahahah oh well i laughed. And that leads me to now,. Had an indian so quiet night tonight, planning some more places to go and stay, will head over to Perth tom and then dont know.
Will put pics on asap poss 2-3 days. hope every one is well
love me xxx
