Today we had an early arrival at Patamos island, it lies close to Turkey in the Aegean sea. It has a monastery of st john that overlooks the town, it date back to the 12 th century.
We didn't walk up to see that, we just wandered along, had a look at the beach. It was nice to have a rest.
We only had a few hours there, then we boarded the ship to head back to turkey to a huge seaside town, Kusadasi. We took a tour to Ephesus, it has the famous temple to the goddess Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the world. It is a city that had great importance in early chrristianity. It was amazing to see how they had reconstructed it using the old pieces and new. The library was what I enjoyed the best, and funny thing was even back in those days they had a brothel just across the road hehe, so the wives husbands would say "I'm just going to the library honey" lol!. The town also had a big open air theater.
It was pretty windy and choppy today as we were watching a Greek performance you could feel the boat rocking. Got to see real Greeks do the zorba (syrtaki), not near as good as dad though lol!!
