Another travel day today, we left La Fortuna and headed to Monteverde. We started our journey with a 45 min boat ride across Lake Arenal there was an incredible view of the volcano from there. The next part of our journey was a very bumpy bus ride up the side of a mountain to Monteverde. Most of yesterday was spent exploring the town, with lunch in a treehouse! We also found a very unique store....which meant more shopping! Monteverde is famous for its cheese...

Word of the day incredible! Amanda and I signed ourselves up for an extreme hike today...a hike to the top of a volcano! An extreme hiker I'm not, so I was more nervous about this than repelling down a 220ft waterfall... We were picked up by Jason our guide at 7:30 this morning. Another early wake up call this morning for our latest adventure...this definitely isn't a sleep in vacation! The bus picked us up at 7 to go canyoneering. We had about a 20min drive but it's become pretty standard around here to only do part of our travels by car, the other part was in the back of a pick up truck! Another travel day...we started our trek back with a 2 hour tractor ride, we were slowed down a bit with a traffic jam of cows! Once we made it out we had a 2 hour bus ride to La Fortuna. This is a small town that is at the base of the Arenal Volcano, it's a bit more touristy than most of the other places we have visited but it's a cute town with lots of bars and restaurants to check out. Today was the perfect vacation day a few of the girls got up early to go bird watching (surprisingly I didn't go lol) when they got back we had a delicious breakfast and read for a while in the swinging chairs... After a relaxing morning Roberto brought us down to the river where we sat in the sun, swam and read until lunchtime. I finally got to work on my tan!
