We arrived in Bangkok on Monday afternoon, after a really good flight. We got to the royal hotel which was gorgeous, couldnt have asked for anything else! Chilled for most of the first night after a mooch down the Koh San Rd (busiest street in Bangkok!) I didnt fancy tryin the thai food just yet and settled for Spag Bol which cost me about 90p! everything is so cheap here! A big bottle of beer is about a quid which jay is loving!
Our second day we spent the day on our own little tor thanks to our lonely planet quides (thanks Kev!) And saw the golden palace, reclining buddah and the emerald buddah. We had a bit of a storm aswell and got drenched! Proper thunder and lightning aswell which was scary but we hid under a temple (as you do) so it wasnt 2 bad.
Tuesday night after our sightseeing we sampled a bit of thai food, which was really nice, then spent the night in an irish bar! Cant be 2 foreign now can we! There was a live band which were brilliant and we met a thai lady who was really funny. They have these things in the bars like bongs with flavoured tobacco which she introduced us to. We keep saying she but were still debating what it was. As monique said you get ladybirds and ladyboys!!!
3rd day was spent on a pre booked day trip. We got picked up at 7 which was far to early! First place was the floating market which is a bit like the rag market but everythings in a boat. Youre in a boat the stalls are in boats. Really weird.
Then we went 2 a cobra show, this was quite fun, but cruel in a way. one of those that you want to watch but know you shouldnt!
Next was the tiger temple which was amazing!!! You have to cover up as its a temple so we had a right sweat on, then you go down some canyon and at the bottom are about 20 tigers all just chillin by a waterfall. Apparantly the bloke who runs the temple takes them in as orphans from the wild and hand rears them so there tame.
We paid 1000 baht (bout 15 quid) to have our photos with them and stroke them. There were some tiger cubs aswell which were gorgeous! We were given tiger necklaces then as a souveneir (like the ones on shipwrecked!)
Next was a trip to the river kwai. Which we had no idea before we got there what it was but felt stupid after finding out its a really famous bridge with a film anf everything! Well you learn something new everyday!!
Last nite we went back 2 our irish bar (our friend was there again!) had a few drinks then went to a 'ping pong show' not going to go in2 too much detail but it was really really weird aswell as being hilarious! Then went for a maaccy d's before bed! ahhh just like home! A lot of the travellers weve spoke to call this normalising, i was just starvin!
Today were geting a night coach to Chang Mai for a 3 day Elephant trek through the jungle of north Thailand. Really scared but excited 2! we arrive at 6am 2morrow and have 1 night in a hotel 2 prepare. after the 3 days we go bak 2 the hotel 4 2 nights, so we have a chance 2 shower and 2 wash my hair. Jason wants me 2 have dreadlocks but im not feelin it just yet.
Love u and leave you all xxxx
