Have passed into Peru, one of the main reasons i chose this area. Its lovely, have just spent two days on Lake Titicaca visiting islands and stayed with a traditional family. We hiked a bit then played a football game against the locals, which at 4000 meters was a bad idea! although the visitors won remarkably. Currently in La Paz the highest capital city in the world. Its pretty cool although a little dangerous in places. Just done a four day expedition around the uyuni salt flats area by four by four. I could nt getover the outstanding beauty of the place. The colours and contrasts in the landscape. I did a bit of climbing on some really weirdly shaped rocks and bathed in a natural volcanic hot spring. Had a day and half in the mining city of potosi. Its at an altitude of 4070 meters and the airs getting a bit thin for my liking! still its not too bad and its only going to get worse as we travel into the salt flats and a peak of 5900 meters! This little city is built around the silver and other minerals in the nearby hill. The mine is operated purely manually with thousands of people spending ages down there for very little money.
