Hey guys
This will probably be our last travel blog in Sydney before we head off to Cairns for some much needed sunshine!
Sydney has been OK, very busy especially as we are only a stones throw away from Chinatown but the people we have met along the way are great. We've been going out with Pete and Andy who we met in Hobart and saw James yesterday (who we met in Melbourne). They have all become our drinking buddies and today is one of those days we are recovering from a heavy night. It was Mardi Gras last night so we went to see it and it was mayhem. It was 8pm and the streets were packed - we got completely squashed and everyone kept pushing - Sam was really pleased she wore her flip flops (aka thongs)! We gave up trying to see the parade and went off to find a bottle shop and mong out in Hyde Park with our friends but even that turned into an unsuccessful mission, there are too many streets and no bottle shops anywhere! All the kids were drunk on the streets, police were everywhere, glass bottles smashed/being smashed left right and centre - it was crazy. We finally met up with all the guys and went to "Side Bar" and thus became our drunken playground for the rest of the evening. Not sure what time we finally got in but after 30 mins of sleep we can say it was really late.
We went to Manly beach again the other day as Sam had left Nicky's scarf (that she has had for 13 years) in the bar.
Sam went to Bondi beach with her friend Richard and even though it is overrated it was nice to be on a beach sunbathing at long last.
Watching the surfers Sam maybe learning how to surf on Monday.
Nic and Sam went to the cinema the other night to watch "Definately Maybe" which was a good film if you have a partner and are all loved-up. Unfortunately, we are in no such position and found the film rather depressing and drowned our sorrows at our local hostel bar, Scary Canary (the name says it all).
Other than that we have filled our days with food, beer/wine/spirits and generally having a good old giggle :)
Our friend from Hobart, Maxwell, is coming to see us on Tuesday so we're all going out for a nice meal (as oppossed to drunken burgers or sober burgers) where the restuarant is in complete darkness!
We hope you are all well. Also, we want to wish our mum's a very happy mothers day.
Ooddles of love guys.
