We started our Moroccan trip with a flight into Tangier! We flew with Ryan Air, and the flight only took 1.5 hours! Flying out of the EU and into Africa means we got two more stamps in our passport! Yay! 
We had the rest of that day in Tangier but were already set on heading to Fez the next day.
Tangier was a good mix of an old Medina but also a strip of DiscoTechs along the beach. We dined out enjoying our first Tagine of the trip. The next day we were on a bus for 10 hours on route to Fez. There was rain in Tangier but we put it down to being so north, but in the bus trip it just didn't stop all day (in fact it didn't stop for 3 days whilst in Fez) Not exactly what you expect from Northern Africa, Although very common for October. Fez is split into 3 sections the New City (800yrs old) Mellah (The Old Jewish Area) and The Old Town (The Biggest Continuous Medina in the world) We stayed in the Medina and enjoyed the winding streets and managed not to get lost once, which is apparently a minor miracle. We also checked out the Merenid Tombs which were lovely and also gives you a great look over Fez. After three nights in Fez we jumped on an 8hr bus to Marrakech. This is where things got sexy, we loved Marrakech. Our Accom was a old 19th century Hostel with excellent staff and location in the Marrakech Medina. In the Hostel we cooked our own Tagine with the staff and two girls from England, it was great to see how it all came together. The best thing of Marrakech is the central Markets in the Medina. The endless alleys of Souks which you can buy anything and the Djanaa El Fna Market which at night is crazy with street performers and massive food tents set up each night. With smoke filling the air from all the food and people everywhere it is a excellent atmosphere. We both became quite ill on our last day which was a pitty but the show must go on and it was off to the coastal town of Essaouira. Essaouira was so different very laid back and quite small, surprising to some we opted to stay in the Medina again. To be honest this is where all the action is in each city and is probably where it's best to stay. Hostel Essaouira bedded us with the wonderful host of Magic Man looking after our every needs. It was a great hostel with a lot of great travellers, a relaxed environment where you would stay up, chatting over a beer which was appreciated after a day in the hectic Medinas! In saying that Essaouira was a lot more chilled then previous city's and you wouldn't feel as harassed. We liked our time here, it had a great fishing port, a nice swell and some lovely old Forts protecting the city. It also started raining on and off, which we were getting sick of but hey, better than being 50 in the middle of summer. The temp always hovered between 20-30 so it was never to cold. Once we completed our stay at Essaouira we had to make the ridiculous journey back up to Tangier because that was the cheapest flight to get back to England. This journey consisted of a bus, a overnight train and taxi (16hrs)
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Morocco, the culture and climate were both very different to what we expected. Both Of us were very guilty of 'Judging a book by its cover' and the one thing we will take away is that Morrocans are not Arabic they are Berbers, wonderful people with different views to what we are led to believe. We wish we had a little bit more time to maybe do a Jeep trip into the dessert but we managed one in Eygpt so we opted No. But hearing from every traveller how good they were we will always suggest that to future travelers to Morocco to give it a go. Next stop England!
