Round the World in 155 Days!
This is the second time i have had to write this, having lost the first copy. That sums up our experience in Melbourne, having also lost our room key (nick), seeing dead birds, and standing in vomit. Melbourne is a funny old place, and to our opinion not as good as its rival Sydney. There seems to be loads of cranes, and noise, this maybe just us fed up with city living for 2 weeks. Melbourne should be named land of the flies cause theres so many of the little gits. Weather can be hot but windy and our accomodation aint no ritz, saying that its done the job.
The punt on pint (hostel) is above an english pub and is a confusing tram ride to the centre. They sell boddys but im sticking to the tooheys beers as i know it wont taste like the nags bods (kings head boddingtons beer). For the last 5 days we ve been at the tennis for day and night sessions, seen tims matches as well as federer, agassi and shapanova. The tennis has been amazing, although not the same atmosphere as wimbledon but the crowds banter is better, and there has been some great support from the brits although performance was pants. We ve met up with rob and lousie who have now returened to sydney. The dairy milk sent over was myuch appreciated and we have had to ration it. We have realised that we are going to cut down spending, so eating cereal as a meal, and sneeking cheapo bottles of vino into the tennis has become norm.
We have had the pin oak court tour aka ramsey street which was quality, its really small. Went to the school as well and went on to footy pitch where football prodigy jack scully has performed. For those who care it turns out karl and susan get back together, paul robinson comes back, kylie and jason maybe appearing in a speacial, and joe scully got sacked for being a drunk.
We ve had a look around melbourne but not alot to report there, we will be leaving next couple of days to head to great ocean road, and as Nicky keeps telling me kangeroo island, she cant wait to cuddle a koala bear. Then we will be heading back through sydney to east coast, decied not to do ayres rock just yet, will wait to see how finances are later in trip.
Hope everyone is happy
Love from Tim Henmans Barmy Army
