Walked down Nathan Road to get to the Harbour. As usual, was offered several tailored suits and a few rolex watches along the way, but very Britishly politely declined.
Caught the star ferry across Victoria Harbour and slowly navigated my way towards the Peak Tram terminal. It seems almost impossible (even for me) to get lost in Hong Kong. As all the buildings are so tall there is always a tip of a building somewhere which can help you navigate. Passed the HSBC building, quite similar to the Lloyds Insurance building in London I think - inside out. Then found the Bank of China, a much more Western, modern looking building. Went up to the viewing gallery on the 43rd floor and....viewed.
On to the peak tram - a very steep ride to get to Victoria Peak which had amazing views of the city and the harbour. Wandered around the numerous view points and had lunch in an italian restaurant called Simpatico.
Trammed back down to central and walked into the Hong Kong Park. Quite a surreal and serene place. Full of trees, birds, lakes, fish and plants but you turn your head the other way and are reminded that you're actually in a huge sprawling mega city. Was quite impressed with the selection of birds, even though I don't really have an interest in birds, other than they look quite nice in photos. All in all a pretty amazing park in a pretty amazing location.
Slowly meandered back down towards the ferry - and nearly got lost, despite it being near impossible. Managed to go a slightly scenic route which was pleasant, and caught the Star Ferry back to Tsim Sha Tsui. Stopped in the Penninsula to have a look around, afternoon tea was taking place so packed full of chatty business men and even more chatty wives. Unfortunately wasn't able to go up to the viewing gallery before 5pm so will try again tomorrow.
