Day 1 We arrived at Foz do Iguaçu around 9am, this time I was feeling refreshed after the 14 hour journey having slept for about 12 hours of it! Day 1 We arrived at São Paulo bus terminal at 5am tired after only 5 hours sleep on the coach. To be fair the coaches are so comfortable and you can lean back really far. Normally I sleep well but this time I was sat next to a woman who felt the need to get up and take a look at each stop, consequently waking me up each time. Day 1 After a 5 hour bus journey we arrived in Paraty. Quickly jumped into a taxi and arrived at our hostel, right on the beach!! Two guys awaited us nervously, apparently their system had been down so they were unable to provide us with a private room until the next day. Instead we still got a room to ourselves but just bunk beds. Josh and I literally didn't care all we wanted was a bed and sleep. However we were promised a discount, a free meal and a cocktail....

Day 1 So we arrived in Rio! The best feeling is that there's no rush. We strolled through the airport and took our time getting on to the bus that our hostel website advised us to catch. I was shocked at what I saw. Young kids running around in poverty stricken places. Blocks of houses built with different types of brick, literally crumbling apart.
