The next morning we said goodbye to Chile for the last time on this trip and caught the bus back into Argentina, to El Calafate.
As you can see from the photo accompanying this entry, there was a big sign at the border proclaiming Argentina's ownership of Las Malvinas, otherwise known as the Falkland Islands. For wont of any real policies, the current president of Argentina is making big thing of this and in fact there are similar signs to this all over the country. Somewhat concerning, it will be interesting to see how it develops. Still, I wasn't arrested when taking this photo so that's a start!
El Calafate is on the edge of the Glacier National Park, and home to the Perito Marino glacier. We'd booked a trek for the following day and so spent the afternoon wandering around the pretty little town and pondering our next steps.
Finished off by sizeable steaks, it was a chilled out day which doesn't make for the best blog entry!
