Back to Havana for a few days before we start our long journey home! We decided to treat ourselves this time! We went to see the show at the Tropicana, which has been going since 1939. Wow! The singing and the dancers were amazing and the costumes were fabulous (and incredibly skimpy but hey those ladies have some bodies!). An expensive but very memorable night. After a little too much free rum the night before the next day we took it easy and just headed out to Playa del Este for a day at the beach.
On our last evening we went to a very special paladare called La Guardita. Now paladares are basically restaurants run out of peoples front rooms in Cuba, again there are lots of rules and basically the food is pretty simple but good and the paladares can only have 12 guests at any one time. Well La Guardita must have some friends in high places because this is a fully fledged restaurant (and a fancy one at that in a very dodgy area of Central Havana) with an amazingly lavish menu, fabulous food and seating for over 60 guests! What a treat!
And then it was farewell Cuba...
