First it has to be a big congratulations to Wil and Becky on their recent engagement, looking forward to the big day.
We`re back in Quito after serviving 3 weeks in Colombia not even meeting a Guerillas or drug lords thankfully. In fact all the stories about Colombia are so blown out of proportion, it has some of the nicest places we`ve been to on the trip and felt a lot safer than Rio.
We spent our last few days in Tayrona National park which is about one hour by bus from Taganga and then an hour hike through tropical jungle before you reach the beach of Aricefes. Although Aricifes is beautiful with green ocean and white sandy beaches fringed with palm trees and tropical rainforest the ocean current is very strong and has killed 200 hundred people in the last few years. Instead we decided to head along the beach for a further 45 mins to Cabo San Juan which is a cool little hangout with hammocks or tents as your accommodation and a little shack that serves food. We spent 3 nights chilling out on the beautiful beaches where the water was calm to swim in and you were one of only 5 other people on the beach! It was paradise and exactly as I had pictured the caribbean to be, in fact we could have stayed there for several weeks.
On Monday we headed back to Taganga where we met up with the girls who were doing the gap tour and partied with them for a couple of nights before heading back to Cartagena and now Quito.
We have until Saturday here and then it`s off for the final leg to L.A heading for Vancouver.
