Choppers Travels
We'll that's me forgotten about the budget, over the last 2 days we have decided we are on holiday (not just that, i think we may have gotten ourselves confused with millionaires, well that may be an exageration, but people with jobs anyway).
we've had a cracking coulple of days (well actually it's been a cracking 18hrs), we started with a boat out to see sperm wales (18m long and 40 tonnes, pretty big), pretty amazing, we were out for about 3hrs and managed to get 4 great sightings (photos to follow when i get on a computer with usb), they kind of lie there on the surface doing nothing untill they dive down, then you get the famous tale shot. mad!
today we got up at 4.45 AM (yep, i thought the only 4.45 was in the afternoon, the time grange hill started when zammo was in it?!!!) to go swimming with dolphins. we were really lucky that we were put on the smallest boat, at first i thought this was a bad thing untill it took off, no messing about. the captail (pilot/driver/nutter) said he got it up to about 60mph? anyway that wasn't the point (though it was good fun) the dolphins were amazing, i don't know what i was expecting but it was so much better than i thought. Normally when you see people swimming with dolphins there's like one or two milling around (normally in a tank) but this was out in the see with about 400 of them.
they come so close that you could touch them (one actually gave me a smack on the back of the head with it's tail, more fun than it sounds actually). Basically you jump in (when you're near a pod) and make noise (i did the high pitched bits from "do the hustle", you know the "du du du du du du du du du du bit). they seemed to like this and so you just get to interact with them, see them jump in front of your face and generally play around (untill they get bored, hence "do the hustle"). Wow. Nic was a bit scared at first (i think she said "f*ucking petrified" put it's hard to make it out through a snorkel and mask). we got to play around or about an hour in total. Great.
then on the way home i walked into the helicopter whale watching place and on impulse treated me and nic to a 30 min flight to spot the wales. My first time in a chopperr (i can call it now i'm a professional ), the flight was great (the wales were good too, sooo big from the air).
all in all a great time.
who knows whats next,i think it may be white water rafting, sky diving or black water rafting, actually the kitchen has just opened so it's lunch.
anyway hope you are all good and will hopefully see the majority of you in Jan when we getr back .
have a gooden
matt, nic (and flipper)
