Onwards from Campo Grande we took our first long bus journey, 11 hours to Peurto Iguazu, Argentina. We had to change once and then get to the Brazilian boarder, where we got a taxi across to Argentina, easy peasy really.
The purpose of this stop was to visit the Iguazu falls. The falls fall in Brazil and Argentina which can make going to either side a little hassles going back and forth and as we were staying on the Argentinian side and only had a short stay we spent a day on that side.
The park is large so you can easily be there for a day, or more if it was baking and there were muchos turistica! Luckily for us neither were present in abundance so we got around lots, looking at the falls from the top, the bottom, from a far and going in!
The major fall is called the Devils Throat and is huge, hopefully some pictures soon will do it justice. It makes you gasp. Throughout the park there are falls everywhere, some large some calmer, so it is really very beautiful.
The tourist highlight of the day is paing 12 pounds to get in a speed boat and go under the second largest fall, under to the extent that you get pelted and soaked through and pushed about a bit, but not to the extend that it is dangerous, you hope! Although a month back a driver of one of the boats had a heart attacked while driving in and went straight in, and everyone did die! A fluke accident of course but still we jested that in England it wouldn´t have happended as you would have to watch it from behind a screen or just dip your toe in before the high vis jackets told you off for breaching health and safety. 12 pounds well spent!
Two days at the falls and then we were off on our 18 hour journey to Beunos Aires. We booked what is called ´Cama Suite´which means you get full reclining chairs and some food and drink. Horizonal makes a big difference, as Semi Cama still gives me fat ankles. No beer on the bus so we were offered wiki (whisky) and Lee ordered his on the rocks, cue a whole glass of whisky more or less and a loud Lee who translated the word s*** into Spanish from the subtitles of the film for all the Spanish speaking people on the bus ;o)
