We are in Paraty now, four and a half hours on the bus from Rio - short by Brazilian standards, nearly to North Yorkshire by Lees standards. More to come later.......off to the beach (annoying i know)

We are here! Can you believe that it was sunny in England and nice and cloudy in Rio - despite 30 degrees last week. Test one done, we had a beer and a cocktail and that made it better. This is Ipanema beach, we have also strolled along Copacaban, the latter being 4.5k long and lush but backed by massive ageing hotels, so me nice deco arcitechture but a lick of paint well overdue.
