Nic's & Matt's Trip
We arrived in Phangan yesterday and it is fantastic! As soon as we arrived we preferred it to Samui. It seems to have more of an atmosphere and practically the whole ferry was English people coming over for the party.
When we got to the port we got in this Tuk Tuk with and English couple and some Thai people. The journey took over an hour and was along the roughest 'roads' in the world. If anyone has ever done a Jeep Safari it was akin to that but it an open backed rattling heap of junk that classes as a taxi here! The English couple said that normally they swapped the passengers over at the hard bit to a pick up truck but our driver was determined to complete the course himself!
We are int he most beautiful place ever - our huts are at the very end of the beach in a cove. The beach is nowhere near as busy as Patong (I got down to the beach for nine this morning and was on my own for about two hours!). The water is clearer than any of the other beaches we have been to and our accomodation has a lovely restaurant, plus we are walking distance to all the bars. I had a Thai massage today at our huts and it was so good. She was farily violent with me but afterwards I felt like I was floating! I definitely like Phangan the most of everywhere and wish we had longer here. If I had the money I'd stay in Thailand forever!!
We went out last night to a party at a fantastic place called The Funky Buddha. Really cool, made out of half a building with little rooms off of it and seating on the floor. Toilets were unmentionable and an experience I'd rather forget. Also, you have to take your shoes off before you go in anywhere (so toilets in barefeet as well - yuck!) and when I left the club I'd lost a flip flop!! I'm just about to go and see if I can find the other one....
