Ok, i am sorry i have neglected this blog for a while. It i amazing how slow the internet in NZ can be!
I did the canyon swing which was amazing. Sat on a chair and balanced on its back two legs until i over balanced and went flying over the edge. Very scarey! I couldnt see where I was going and I dont like leaning back on my chair at the best of times!
Queenstown continued to rain for most of the time we were there, so much so that the lake it is based on almost flooded for the first time in over a decade. Super! We managed one short bike ride to see the sites of Queenstown but most of our time there was spent eating and watching tele. oops.
Then moved across to the east coast to the university town of Dunedin to stay in a student flat. If there was anything to make me happy I wasnt a student again it was this! There was lots of drinking and partying, but also a lot of damp, dirt, grime, untidyness... etc. I think staying in the most notorious student flat in Dunedin, belonging to six boys probably wasnt the best idea we ever had! The actual town was very nice but my body decided it had had enough so I came down with a cold i am stil battling two weeks later. Never mind. I bit of rain too!
Travelled back up to wellington on the north island to stay with Ma again, via christchurch for an evening which was lovely. Stayed with Ma for six days in total but went out to the Wairapa for a night to visit more friends and do a little bit of tramping (kiwi for hiking, who knows!?) and some wandering around town/climbing wall fun. We went to a great comedy gig as it is the NZ international comedy festival at the moment and generally ate a huge amount of Ma baked home goodies. Oh the yummy!
The excitement when leaving was that we picked up our campervan which we have for 12 days/11 nights! However that was two nights ago and we havent slept in it yet as we are staying with some friends!!! Perhaps we should have just got a car! Got to Havelock North a few days ago in time for a large preball gathering of students and parents and an impromptu dinner party. We spent sunday at the local food market and playing tennis in the court in their back garden. Today we went for a walk up to the peak, to the beach, a winery with tastings and a cheese shop (also tastings). mmmm good day! And a little tennis in the early evening.
Tomorrow we drive to Taupo via Napier so a big day ahead. Plus we also sleep in the campervan. How exciting!!
