I found my blog! And so the travel adventures can continue. Unlikely to be as many scrapes as last time but i guess not being in situations where you genuinely believe you are going to die is a good thing. Also I'm sticking to strictly developed countries this time. Looking back I gave an incomplete account of my last travels, stopping blogging almost a full month before returning home, so here it is in summary (and almost three years too late the following occurred). Sihanoukville -> Thai islands following a full 36 hour bus/ boat scenario then Hong Kong then home. Awesome.
Anyway back to the present. Travelling is not glam. Early wake ups, too much luggage and cancelled flights all mean I am now killing four hours in JFK airport. Who actually cancels flights, like, seriously. CANCELS. On the plus side I am with cider at an airport bar which is something I have always wanted to do. Well not necessarily the cider bit. it would have been cooler to go with wine but there is too much time to kill to drink wine and then get on a flight. Travel plans are sorted through the Facebook community and I have Pinterest to lose my life too. God bless free wifi.
A personal update: My face is shiny which means I have to push up my glasses at 30 second intervals making me look like a crazy person, I probably smell since I've been awake so long. I keep accidentally hitting people with my belongings (spatial awareness without luggage is not my forte so there's no hope here). On the plus side there is some excellent people watching to be had. And I am on holiday. I'm going to re-phrase that. I am holding down a full time job and have just commenced a two month travel session. And I've already left the country for five holidays in the last 10 months. I don't understand why people do things which aren't teach in a private school...!
Also been reflecting on how things have moved in since I last 'travelled'. The love of my life, Paddy is here to help keep me entertained though I also still have an almost complete library in my bag as I don't quite trust electronic book reading. I'm so entertained there is a worry that I may forget to go to my flight. Ok, maybe not, but I'm pretty darn well entertained.
Anyway. There is little else to say without me hitting full on ramble mode, as opposed to this stream of conscious I am achieving now.
Over and out. X
