We started the day heading out on the staten island ferry thinking we were going to see the statue of liberty-wrong! We only managed to get to staten island. Go figure! It turns out the statue of liberty is on liberty island! Anyway after the ferry there and back and a view of the big green lady we decided that we didn't need to actually go over to liberty island and that the view from the bottom of the statue wouldn't be ad good as from the ferry anyway. After this, dad was exhausted so he went home by can again and Lynette, Mum and I went on to wall street and the big bull. There are some truly beautiful buildings down there.
Then we caught a cab to Greenwich Village and little Italy. We wandered around and looked in shops. Found an excellent high tea shop and I blasphemously asked for a strong coffee! Best I've had since getting to the USA.
The tea and coffee gave us enough pep to keep moving so we walked through Washington square gardens, listened to a jazz band and made our way to the empire state building. Lynette and Mum went up- I woosed out - too high for me! So I sat in maccas for an hour or so- should have shopped I was surrounded by sales!
When they came down we caught a cab back to the apartment. Lynette and I went to the corner shop and grabbed some groceries to cook dinner in our little kitchen. Tried to get to bed early but still can't manage to sleep until after midnight.
