on day 1 , we visited monkey island a small island downstream from the lodge, yes its not natural but we did see squirel monkeys,lion monkeys, black and white capachins and spider monkeys, one of which sat on my head, told not to move as it wanted to see if i was been aggressive to it, before dinner we went out on the river to see caymens, which basically involved no talking and shining a bright light , their eyes reflected red and not suprising they get annoyed and jump back into the river

Day 2 we did a 15 kms walk along trails, paddled canoe through a swamp for 3 kms, getting stuck on occasions seeing caymen, monkeys,tarantula spiders and geting various flora and fauna pointed out to us, this was to see the lost lake, which we found so dont know why its called lost lake, full of mosquitos but thanks to my Avon skin so soft i was not bitten, also wear long sleeves shirts and long trousers and proper boots as the trail is covered in ants,we aslo visited the lodges botantical gardens for a talk on the use of plants and herbs in medicine

day 3, we went by boat to the river Gardina, walked 3 kms, to a place where people were swimming, note gold miners on ther rivers suction up mud from the rivers on their boats as part of the process of extracting gold they use mercury which is discharged into the river, needless to say i did not go swimming

in the afternnon we wnt on a4km walk to a swamp and we went out in a canoe looking for cayman which we saw

day 4 , wa sup early depart at 07.00 down the river to puerto maldonado, at the port taking to the lodges office, collecyed luggage issued with boarding passes, driven to airport,x ray machine not working at the airport so people were taking on board treking poles, liquids in excess of 50 mls, thankfully the security were checking that your belt was not an offensive weapon

flight back to lima via cusco memorable in that LAN served a snack, flapjack,breadsticks and a chocolate bar, glitch at the airport when hotel driver did not show, took an airporttaxi,green line to hotel, fixed price 45 soles to cental lima, cheaper than hotel , which was 20 dollars,now back at hoel kamana,checked in and getting used to the horn noises of lima, its cloudy, and no signor i dont want to buy a toy rat
