Pahia, Bay of Islands. This is situated to the north of Auckland, it took about 3-4 hours to get here. It is a tiny seaside village, with the main attractions being kayaking, diving the sinken Rainbow Warrior, sea fishing and swimming with the dolphins.
Unfortunately I had a nasty infection and had to go straight to the Doctors and get antibiotics, then I had to book into a rather nice hotel and order room service until i got better! Anyway, after a week, felt well enough to go for a swim with the dolphins. It was ace, had to sing to the dolphins via my snorkel which was a bit bizarre, but it worked! Swam with about 7 of them. Made many new friends!
I also caught a ferry across to the neighbouring island of Russell, where there is a tiny church with bullet holes in, (to do with which flag should be flown at the flagpole)!, and it was the weekend of the largest New Zealand boat race, where, there were many drunken yachties, (this was at 11 in the morning).
