Campagnia and Calabria are down the south part of Italy and our first stop after the Amalfi coast. Our intention is to travel through the mountain range that dominates the centre length of Italy. We took the coast road from San Marinella for the first couple of hours and then the express way to our destination Sorrento, where we had booked into the Ulisyse for a two night stay. We passed one crop after another along the way, no live stock; but fields of colorful crops; tomatoes, grape vines, olive trees, fig trees, wheat crops, peach and apricot trees, corn and vegetables. We hadn't booked our first night's accommodation in Italy. Our logic being if we pick up a rental vehicle from the airport arriving early evening, we could spend some time finding the address, so we opted to head to the coast in the direction of Civitavecchio as I was wanting to check out this old port city. After Steph's recommendation of the area to stay in Barcelona, Leigh booked the Barnys Hotel in the old part of Barcelona. This also turned out to be the best part in terms of facilities, attractions, ambiance and transport not to mention the architecture. We took Dave's recommendation of must see spot and headed to the top of park Guell with a picnic tea and watched the sunset with the amazing view over Barcelona. Thanks Dave, see photo.
