It's unbelievable how quickly time passes! I'm writing this blog 3 days after we hired bikes for the day and took the coast road from Nha Trang up to the local fishing villages about 15km away. It was scorching and the white English boy caught the sun. I did manage to retain the polka dot jersey as king of the mountains though. It was a great way to get off the beaten track - as I said on the message board, I realised it was the same road that Clarkson, Hammond and May took when they did Vietnam bottom to top on scooters on Top Gear. Can't wait to watch that episode again when I get back!
After the bike ride, we rode to the outskirts of Nha Trang, a city of 250,000 people, where there were some mud baths. What an experience covering myself in green, scented mud then letting it dry in the sun, before blasting it off with spring water and having a hot steam bath afterwards. All for about $2.
We took the night train to Danang and arrived at 4.30am - 3 hours kip and I didn't know where I was! After an hour bus ride, we arrived in Hoi An, a town close to the coast in central Vietnam. You can see the Fench influence here with many of the streets and shops having French names. This town has hundreds of suit and dress tailors - quite a few of the guys have had suits and dresses made. I thought about it, as I could have a suit made for $50, but do I really want to be carrying a suit round the world with me?!?!
Last night we took a Vietnamese cooking course in a local restaurant. I paid $12 for the cooking course, to eat the food and 4 beers. The course was amazing - we cooked fresh mackrel in banana leaves, squid, made our own spring rolls and wontons. We used ingredients like lemon grass, garlic and fresh chilli. I managed to get hold of the recipes from the guy who was teaching us, so I may cook some Vietnamese fare for you when I get back!
Sevẻal Mọitos later and ưe got back to the hotel.
Today, ưe're going to víit some local mảngove sưamps and travel on boát similả to thóe on the pictủe. I'll have to go á the bú í about to leave.

Charles Impressive stuff Neil...not only have you won the polka dot jersey, done some Vietnamese cookery training, and had a mud bath, but you've also learnt a whole new french meets Vietnamese meets English language- all in just over a week! Loving reading your blogs. Take care x

Greg Tash your banter is brilliant, you're making me homesick! Just realised charlie = pooch not charley jo, what a tool. But shouldn't the pooch be saying ggrrrrr bite bite as opposed to lick lick? Neil. Are you still doing fantasy league abroad? Are you still beating Scott with worst tactics I've ever heard .... Let's buy crap players cos they're cheap.... Yer there's is reason for that chief....
Scott Gordon Thankyou Greg....Neil is still ahead of me. I think i might look at bringing Adam Johnson into my team, now he's playing in the prem. How's that promotion push going CHIEF? Glad to hear you're enjoying it Neil. Vietnamese lasagne when you get back?
