June 25th (Thursday) - Day 116 - St Helens (Bay of Fires)
We had a short drive up to St Helens (via a few detours - nothing of interest) where we found a hostel and checked in. We were the only ones in the whole place at that point in time. We had a drive around St Helens looking in a few shops including an English Sweet shop where we got some toffee's and sherbet lemons. (Not missing home honestly!). We then drove onto the bay of fires. This has been voted the second nicest bunch of beaches in the world (apparently) so we had a few hours discovering the area. Once again the sand was really white and the sea really blue despite the horrid weather. We stopped in almost every car park as each place was just as nice as the last. That evening in the hostel there were only 5 of us. The place was so cold that it was actually warmer outside! Sarah and I went out for a bit because of that and when we got back the owner had lit the log fire so we played some cards taking in the warmth of it.
