April 29th (Wednesday) - Day 59 - Perth to Alice Springs
Got up and packed up and met the transfer bus at 10am. It was on time but we had to go all around Perth to pick people up. The worst bit was we got to the end and they decided to pick more people up, really close to where we got on. We only just made our check in time. We left on time and arrived in Alice Springs on time. We collected our bags and met the rep from the hostel who picked us up along with a few other people from our flight. We arrived at the hostel and managed to get on the Ayers rock trip they said we couldn't do because they could get us back in time for our next flight. It just meant spending a day in Alice Springs that we had not planned for. We unpacked and walked into town. Within 5 minutes we had seen the whole town it really is a tiny little town used as a staging area for Ayers rock trips. We looked in a few shops and that left us with only one option… beer. Had a few drinks and then had a really nice meal from one of the places in town before going back to the hostel bar. Spoke to a bunch of tour reps who were having a party. One was trying to get us to go on this trip way down south somewhere. When we went to bed we woke up 2 people in the room but we were not the last ones back.
April 30th (Thursday) - Day 60 - Alice Springs
Tried to have a lay in but the people we woke up got there own back by being up early and packing to leave. They woke the 2 others up too who started chatting so we had no hope of getting back to sleep. Instead we got to know them all by chatting for about an hour before doing some washing. We then headed out about lunch time to see if we could see any more delights but instead ended up on a bench eating lunch. We really had nothing to do at this point so looked for the "best" attraction. This being the Royal Flying Doctors museum. It was really informative. They serve as an ambulance service for the outback and remote regions using 51 planes. Afterward we climbed the memorial hill where you could see 360 degree views of Alice Springs. Then by this time the beer was calling again. We went to the hostel bar had some dinner then got chatting to a few people we could find who were on our trip the following day. Also met some 'interesting' locals who were way to eager to buy us drinks. Not that I cam complaining.
