So we finished our Dublin trip with a bang at the Temple Bar and got to watch an honest to goodness irish band play for a while. The next morning we had to get up before the crack of dawn and make our way to the airport and get on a plane to London. Landed at the Luton Airport, took a bus to Brent Crossing and then jumped on the underground to Belsize Park (jumping wasnt actually realistic as we probably had 50lbs of luggage on us. While in London we stayed with some friends of my mother who were nice enough to take care of us while we were there...we even got to do some laundry! That may have been the most excited either of us had ever been about the idea of doing laundry = )
We finally set off to see the city late afternoon and hit up St. Pauls Cathedral, which was amazing and also swarming with pigeons. Then we made our way over to the Parliament buildings, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben. There were A TON of statues along the way, which ive taken to naming all "Mr Guinness" (just because he was everywhere in Dublin). After getting our fill of tall buildings and unnamed statues, we crossed the river Thames and along side it and the London Aquarium while being serenaded by a guitarist/singer who seemed to know every sentimental song ever written.
Then we had to make our way back to Leceister Sq (pronounced Lester...that took a while to get down) because earlier we had gotten tickets to see Avenue Q! For anyone that hasnt heard of it, its basically a broadway show version of sesame street, but for adults only. VERY GOOD.
duh, i forgot the most exciting part of the day...while we were on the underground (mind the gap!) we noticed one of the stops on our line was "Kings Cross"...as in Harry Potter! so we immediately jumped off and ran around till we found the shopping cart and took several pictures...good times
