Why isn't tallness a recognised disability?
So, Cairns it is and has been for the past 3 days. The weather has been a mixed bag of tricks, its either scorching hot and unbearably humid or raining. Rain has made up most of the last few days so that coupled with my end of trip enthusiasm wain there hasn't been much achieved or accomplished.
Cairns doesn't appear to have a Starbucks, that is disappointing as the alternatives are more expensive and lessor in quality, particularly in the muffin department. What I did find however was ice defined as the 'Ice cream for the future'.
It was slightly bizaare, little flavoured dots of ice that fit in a little cup and melt in your mouth the same way a normal ice cream would. I hope it doesn't catch on and become the ice cream of the future because id miss the cone, particularly the ones with chocolate coating around the top, those one's are ossum with a capital lisp.
Whats also weird is a film called River Queen with Kiefer Sutherland playing a bloke called Doyle with a beard and the most dodgy Irish accent imaginable, apart from that it was good and it didnt completely tarnish his image to me as Jack Bauer.
I saw a croc, not quite Steve Irwin style but a croc's a croc and his name is Goliath and its fitting cause he is a massive f*cker.
So final day in Oz and the suns out and ive got slightly burnt watching Australia and India play cricket. The great Merv Hughes was there (Scott and John will know).
Tomorrow my epic journey home begins and ends with what will be my 4th days worth of Airports/planes/coaches/ferry travel. I will be met on Thursday morning by Beryl the great, its been emotional.
